USA July 2013 (Updated)

The funky 500e landed just in time for the summer
Just the Two of Us Edition

With Tesla focused on the Model S landing in Europe, both the Leaf and the Volt were back to their natural top spots, this time with advantage for the japanese car. It will surely be an interesting fight until the end of the year between these two.

On an off month for the US EV market, with 6.744 units sold, staying below the 7.000 units threshold for the first time since February, some models deserve mention, the Prius Plug-In reached #3 in the monthly ranking, it's best ranking since February, the Chevrolet Spark EV reached 103 units in its second sales month and the Fiat 500e landed with a bang, selling 150 units, reaching #7 in the monthly ranking and it's already ahead YTD of its main competitor, the Spark EV. Not bad for a debut month...

For a brand that's reluctant in investing in EV's, Fiat has quite a success in its hands, making one wonder why aren't they more enthusiastic about it, after all, having a cute, fun-to-drive, reasonable priced city car is something that their competitors could only dream about, and yet they hesitate...But i digress.

In July, the subcompact EV king was the 500e, but the Spark EV is just waiting around the corner to take the crown away from the Italian rival.
